What Springtime Seeds are you Sowing Right Now?
Though we have culturally come to regard the start of the new year as the ideal time to set—and start working toward—new goals, this dark, cold, quiet time of year really beckons us to rest. After all, that’s exactly what the rest of the world around us is doing! Animals hibernate or slow down significantly, plant life lies dormant, and the sun shines for just long enough for us to meet our basic needs. Even in our yoga practice, we may find ourselves more drawn to restorative movement and less driven to master new poses or push ourselves.
Of course, the deep rest of wintertime serves a powerful purpose, allowing us to restore and replenish so that we are ready (and excited) to bloom with the creative force of springtime. As the seasons shift and the world slowly begins to reawaken, we start to feel more energized and motivated. Longer days and warmer weather give us the space and vitality to start settling on—and working towards—the goals and visions that feel most alive for us.
To share in the season’s momentum and encourage each other along on our unique journeys, we asked the Haven community about the seeds you’re sowing and nurturing right now, whether on or off your mats! We hope that witnessing each other in your heart’s desires will support you in realizing whatever it is you seek this season.
What intention or goal are you hoping to bring to life as we shift into the creative / productive energy of spring?
Why does this feel invigorating or important to you?
What steps will you take to commit to growing this little seedling?
“This season, I intend to embrace quiet and calm to reduce my overthinking and stress levels. I will lean on yoga, meditation, and music, and practice being kind and non-judgmental toward myself.”
– Jessica
“My goal this springtime is to publish my book and grow my coaching business! I hope that sharing my story will inspire people to rewrite their stories, allow their inner light to shine bright, and create the life they were meant to live. Allowing myself to be seen and staying on track with my deadlines will support me in getting this done.”
– Pamela Yula
“This spring, I’m eager to explore as many new hobbies and experiences as I can. I want to start learning a craft that challenges me and fall in love with the process of learning something new for the first time. Each spring, I crave activity, both physical and mental. Trying things outside my comfort zone keeps me grounded in the “student” mindset, and inspires my creativity both on and off of the mat. Sometimes that means taking a new type of fitness class, studying and learning a new art modality, or even picking something up I haven tried in years. Either way, I have so much fun in this non-serious beginner mindset—doing something just because it sounds fun and not caring about the outcome! This year, I plan on taking some aerial yoga and pole dancing classes (If anyone wants to join, here’s your invite!). I also plan on adding more to my tiny aquarium, which is a fun hobby I definitely need to research more.”
– Charley
“I’m slowly piecing together something I’ve been envisioning for a while and could not be more excited to continue diving into this future offering. I’m reminding myself that things don’t have to feel hard and that when I get the signal that something feels right, I can trust that inner knowing and move forward with ease, grace, and heart-centered intention. This future offering is something I’ve never done before and feel is important to continue nourishing and expanding within the lovely community I’m lucky enough to be a part of! I love feeling like a student and exploring wisdom from before my time…it’s truly an endless journey. I’m supporting my vision by committing to listening to what’s needed, both within myself and in my surroundings—and spending intentional time working on this project so that it feels deeply ingrained in my own being and ready to share when the time comes!”

“For me, 2024 presented itself with challenges that caused difficulty. I dealt with a situation and would have floundered without the people in my life. I will forever be grateful to those who supported me through this challenge. A year later, as we approach Spring 2025, I want to continue to remember and grow from this lesson. Spring is a new beginning that presents the ability to ‘regrow’ while also remembering where I came from and how I got to where I am today. I will plant these seedlings by continuing to be grateful. A wonderful practice for me to get in tune with my inner gratitude is practicing reiki (shoutout to Level 2 in April!). As the weather warms, I'd like to spend more time outside to get in touch with nature and have moments of self-reflection. Spending time with my friends, family, and the beautiful community at Haven also helps me learn and grow.”
– Lauryn
“I am calling in more financial abundance this Spring! Prosperity codes! I desire to be more open to receiving in my photo business—and believing I am worthy will allow me to manifest this.”
– Nicole
“This Spring, I plan to wake up right before the sun rises to have more intentional and quiet time in the morning. Mornings are really sacred to me and I hate rushing! When I’m intentional about making this time, it affects the rest of my day in such a positive way. I am committing to trying to get to bed earlier, bundling up and getting fresh air first thing, staying consistent, and having peace with myself”.
– Kerry
“I've been doing a lot of reflection lately, bringing awareness to how far I have come since I started doing yoga and finding continued peace in the word ‘practice.’ I have benefited so much from the journey of practicing poses I want to master and going deeper into my practice. I've made connections with people and learned about different techniques and the ways all bodies are different. It's an enlightening feeling to open your mind and try different things that either work or don't. I've learned so much about the way my own body can move, shift, and open. By paying more attention to these tools and conversations, I can dig deeper in poses and open a world of exploration. I will continue to support this journey by talking to people at the studio, going to Open Mat, and being open to opportunities and workshops in the community.”
– Molly AP
“Winter had me seeking solitary moments indoors, reading and cooking. As spring approaches, I am yearning for meaningful connection and gathering. It is my hope to use the opening and blooming energy of spring to create and host the kinds of connection I am seeking. I have been so tired and leaned into winter for an intentional rest. This has slowed hosting any sort of gatherings to a near halt and I have become aware that I miss community, so I am setting out to create the kind of community I seek by hosting or arranging small groups for connection. I’M GONNA DO IT! I have set aside time to reach out to others, but will also remember to schedule intentional rest to avoid the exhaustion I felt during the winter months.”
– Patti
“My springtime goal is to declutter—my home, my office, my car, my space, and my body and brain—and to try not to spend or over-consume on items I don’t really need. This helps me ground my energy into the things and people that matter, and shifts my focus to spending quality time over spending money and practicing gratitude for what I have (instead of feeling the constant pull to over-consume or make frivolous purchases out of boredom)! I’ve started first with eliminating alcohol! I’ve been sober for almost 60 days. This effort to ‘declutter’ my body first has really inspired me to keep going and work on other areas of my life and spaces. Next is a social media detox!”
– Stephanie Maxwell
“My intention for spring is to be present and watch how nature shifts around us; to appreciate the bright colors, the change in temperature, and how the animals play when warmer weather arrives. It helps me smile, slow down, and appreciate just how beautiful and boundless nature is. It reminds me that I’m vibrant and boundless, too, if I only take the time to appreciate all that I am. I will stay present with this by taking daily walks to see different states of bloom. I also have a journal that I try to write in daily—and I start every entry with a moment I was grateful for that day.”
– Justina
“I have many goals, many questions, and many things I am excited for this spring and year ahead of us. One question that has been especially important on and off my mat is: Am I pushing myself or am I encouraging myself? The very thin, blurred line is almost impossible to see, especially because I was brought up in a ‘pick yourself back up and walk it off’ kind of culture that has shifted into ‘feel your pain, and feel it some more.’ Lately, I am asking: When do we allow ourselves to hold space for the pain so we can feel it and move through it—and when we do encourage ourselves to release it, to move beyond it with strength, and just let go? I’ve been learning to trust my gut feeling. Sometimes it’s a quiet voice, but it’s almost always there. As I heal from a hamstring injury I know nothing about, though, I am trusting others, my teacher, and my community to guide me through. It is humbling and opening my eyes to the strengths and weaknesses that are always living inside of me.”
– Jen
“Though spring is such a productive time, my intention for the season is actually to allow myself to release my grip on my drive to ‘do,’ plan, and produce in order to sink into presence, simplicity, and greater clarity of what truly matters in life. As we prepare to welcome another child into our family, it is important to me to prioritize our collective peace and well-being so that we can step into this next chapter feeling grounded. Letting go of busyness and pressure around home projects, work, and the like will create the space we need to attune to each other and truly enjoy this transition. I am dropping expectations around "accomplishing" much of anything throughout the coming season and reminding myself that my only work right now is to care for myself and my family as our reality once again transforms. That means being discerning about whether things I typically love (like gardening!) will be nourishing or an added stress or to-do. I will remind myself that there is a season for everything in life—and, for us, this season is about presence, being, and simplicity.”
– Lauren Del Turco
“My intention for this new season is to use my energy, focus, time, and space to tend to my own garden—both my literal garden and my personal goals. Turning 60 (a bit of a magical milestone ) in December allowed me the opportunity for some ideas to start perking, and now I am ready to grow them. I feel a sense of urgency with my timeline—life is short! Less social media and less phone time will create the space I need.”
– Nancy Weidner
“This spring, I am focused on growth and enrichment. Growth helps me continue improving as an individual so I can share the energy with the people around me. I used wintertime to focus on myself and grow with my intentions so they can blossom in the Spring.”
– Gregory Nicosia
“I intend to invite breath into daily moments—and all my moments—this season. I don’t want to not notice life pass me by. To move toward this, I will show up to as many community classes as I can, learn yoga foundations so I’m not lost in class, and practice being present off the mat.”
– Anonymous
“This springtime, I intend to cultivate and strengthen meaningful connections—both new and old—by sharing enriching experiences with people who uplift, inspire, and challenge me to grow spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I’ve found that the more I invest in meaningful relationships, the more I discover about myself. I deeply admire the people in my life, as they continuously challenge, encourage, and inspire me to grow into the best version of myself. It’s invigorating to think about the lessons I’ll learn and the experiences I’ll gain by spending more time with these individuals, while also welcoming new connections that enhance my journey through life. I will commit more time to seeing others and stay open to spending time with new people and having new experiences!”
– Allison Nething
“The intention I’m nourishing this season is to practice art every day. Intentionally making time and space for my creativity to flow feeds my soul and restores my inner child, so I will challenge myself to ‘create art every single day... even if it sucks.’”
– Kristina Black
